The Radiance

The Radiance It is likewise narrated that shamsuddin Mualim related that one day Moulana, addressing the disciples, said that the prophet had said that when the heart of the faithful is filled with radiance of god, the heart becomes fertile and productive of pious thoughts and reactions. The prophet was asked how one could discern that the lights of god had entered the heart of a man; to which he replied that such a person loses all worldly desires and all pleasures of a worldly nature forfeit their allure so far as he is concerned. And that he becomes a stranger to his friends and relatives, nor has any expectations from anyone, or desires anything from anybody.         from the book the hundred tales of wisdom by Idris shah

"Maybe"

Buddhist stories and parables One concerns a famer who wakes up to find that his horse has run off. The neighbours come by and say, “Too bad such awful luck”. The famer then replied, “Maybe”. The next day, the horse returns with a few other horses. The neighbours congratulate the farmer on his reversal of fortune.   “Maybe” was the only words the farmer reply. When his son tries to ride one of the new horses, he breaks his leg, and the neighbours offer condolences. “Maybe” the farmer says. And the next day, when army officials come to draft the son and don’t take him because of his broken leg – everyone is happy. Then again “Maybe” the farmer says. I have heard stories like this before. They are beautiful in their simplicity and surrender to the universe. I wonder if I could be attached to something so detached. I don’t know. “Maybe”   -from a book ‘have a little faith’ by Mitch Albom

STIGMA TOWARDS HEADSCARF WHEN WILL IT ENDS Coming from a multiethnic country like Malaysia, I was taught to learn to accept the varieties of religions and beliefs that are freely practiced here. Being a Muslim, a Christian, Buddhist, or even Hindu doesn’t make you a deviant. Living in a free country like Malaysia, where once is free to express their believe… I choose to wear a headscarf as my humble attempt to follow the teaching of my religion, and it’s not in my judgment to tell the non headscarf Muslim women   they are less Muslim if she isn’t cover up, more importantly   it is the heart that counts. The journey in my life begins, when I went to a country that was once was ruled by the ottoman caliphs. Grew up in Malaysia, I just couldn’t understand why is that Muslim women in Turkey have to fight for their right to wear a headscarf. I mean I have many close friends in Malaysia who choose not to cover up, and we in Malaysia are totally cool with that and I personally r...
